Shortbread Hearts for Valentine’s Day 💕

Valentine's Day heart shortbread

Is Valentine's Day commercial? Well yes. But despite that I like the aesthetic and the atmosphere that revolves around February, this month of love. So yeah, there's no day to say I love you, but I'm a "any occasion is good for a party or something special" type. Little cookies and pretty illustrations on the theme of love, that's what I like about Valentine's Day.

Today, I offer you this delicious recipe for shortbread in the shape of multiple hearts which will delight both the eyes and the taste buds! It's very simple, you just need two heart cookie cutters of two different sizes which you can find in my store by clicking here .

Ingredients :

  • 1 egg
  • 250g of flour
  • 50 g of powdered sugar
  • 80 g of icing sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 200g butter
  • 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp red food coloring
Material :

Preparing heart shortbread for Valentine’s Day:

1. In a salad bowl, put the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, icing sugar, yeast, vanilla sugar and salt.

2. Then add the cold butter cut into cubes little by little. Knead until the flour absorbs the butter. Add the egg and continue to knead to obtain a good consistency to work with. (If the dough is too sticky, add a little flour. If on the contrary it is too brittle, add a little water.)

3. When the dough is homogeneous, form a ball and cut it in half.

4. Flatten the first ball between two sheets of baking paper using a rolling pin to approximately 5 mm thickness. Then place it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour on a plate.

5. Flatten the second ball and add the red food coloring. Knead your dough again to color it completely. Be careful, the dye stains, preferably use gloves. When the dough is completely colored, also flatten it between two sheets of baking paper and put it directly in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

6. Take your pasta out of the cold. Using the small heart cookie cutter, cut out each of the pieces of dough and replace the red hearts in the white dough and vice versa as in the photo below.

7. Then, cut out your pasta with small hearts using the large heart cookie cutter. Place your biscuits on a baking tray covered with baking paper.

8. Bake at 175°C for 15 min.

The cookies are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. These two-tone hearts will have their effect! Don't hesitate to share photos of your creations with me on social networks. 🥰🍪
